The European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) the Excellence model is a management model for excellence which can be applied to any organisation to evaluate qualitatively its performance.
The Council has used the model since 2000 as a systematic and independent way to identify areas of strength, areas which require further improvement and then to develop a targeted improvement plan (The Corporate Improvement Plan) to address these areas. The initial submission in 2000 achieved a score of 175 and in 2002 a score of 200 was achieved. To view the latest version of

Use the links below to view the submissions and feedback reports for 2000 and 2002. The next planned assessment is due in 2005 as the Council took part in the government led Comprehensive Performance Assessment in 2004.
