Managing Editor, Digital - Middle East Broadcasting Networks, Inc
The Middle East Broadcasting Networks, Inc. (MBN) is seeking a dynamic, innovative journalist to lead content development for its Raise Your Voice social media properties. MBN is a non-profit, multimedia broadcaster in Springfield, VA that provides news and information to audiences in the Middle East and North Africa through television, radio and digital properties in Arabic.
The Managing Editor will lead creation of compelling content to address and directly engage the people of Iraq and Syria in discussion on the fight against extremism and underlying causes of terrorism. The digital properties provide citizens an opportunity to voice opinions and engage in discussion with MBN staff and each other on these issues relevant to their daily lives and future.
The primary duties and responsibilities of the Managing Editor include, but are not limited to:
Ensuring fresh, mission-driven content is produced and available daily.
Selecting and leading staff in development of high quality, relevant content to spur audience engagement and real-time community discussion.
Demonstrating initiative and creative thinking to develop new content forms and alternative approaches to improve mission delivery.
Consistently providing sound editorial judgment and modeling professional accountability and integrity.
Ensuring all platform content complies fully with MBN’s journalistic code, social media policies, and style guidelines.
Collaborating closely with technical staff to ensure effective content presentation.
Ensuring social media properties are appropriately monitored and MBN commenting policies are strictly enforced.
Taking initiative to identify strengths and correct weaknesses in team and content.
