If you are interested in ArcGIS software work, GPS field work, quality control of spatial data, map creation and publishing, and GIS technical support, you could serve as our newest GIS specialist.
The GIS Specialist will be reporting to the Sustainable Range Program (SRP) Geospatial Support Center (GSC) at Fort A.P. Hill located in Bowling Green, Virginia. The GIS Specialist will be responsible for the creation, updating, management, and correction of file geodatabase and within the ArcGIS Server/SDE environment. The GIS Specialist will also have project requirements for GPS field work, instruction of GIS to military personnel and range control staff, testing of range operation tools, such as the Range Manager's Toolkit (RMTK), and providing GIS technical support. Primary duties will include ArcGIS software work, Global Positioning System (GPS) field work, data development, map development, data quality control support, and GIS technical support. The requirements of this position include a proficiency using the ArcGIS suite of products (ArcMap, ArcCatalog, ArcToolBox, and Data Reviewer), FGDC, SDSFIE, and excellent writing and communication skills. The GIS Specialist will be required to provide a wide range of GIS support services including the development of GIS data for multiple military installations, the development of specialized map products, teaching GIS and SRP applications to non-GIS users, writing custom scripts and tools to support project requirements, and performing spatial queries and analysis. The applicant must be able to work as part of a team and MUST be a U.S. Citizen.
